In order to ensure conducive environment devoid of noise pollution, the National Assembly has been urged to promulgate a bill that bans the use of noisy generators by industrial plants in the country.

The Managing Director of Monital Trading Company, Madam Maurine Cyril made the call in Port Harcourt during an interview with The Tide.

She said that noise remains one of the major pollutants of an environment which every enlightened society tries to bring under control.

Madam Cyril stressed that generators used by many organisations as alternative source of electricity supply is by their noisy nature causing havoc to the people and polluting the environment.

The society will be exposed to catastrophe if the situation persists she said, pointing out that, the legislators should be able to make laws that will protect life and property of the citizenry.

Madam Cyril explained that, the call became imperative especially as some organisations using such noisy electricity power systems are unfortunately located in residential areas in most cities nationwide.

Nigeria has come of time when industries and organisations should be encouraged to go for noiseless alternative electricity power supply she said, pointing out that, noise is dangerous to human health.

The MD stressed that noise pollution has negative impact to society development in various ways, hence the need to eradicate it in our surrounding cannot be over emphasised.

She enjoined the federal government to subsequently set up a committee to ensure sustenance of conducive environment where noise pollutant alternative electricity power plants cannot be used.
