Artificial Ear — Type AE1000
The Artificial Ear Type AE1000 is a complete test jig for measurement on supra-aural and supra-concha earphones and telephone handsets.
Artificial Ear Type AE1000 consist of an acoustic coupler, RST condenser microphone and preamplifier and a base plate, which all parts are made of stainless steel and no any magnetic material.

The Artificial Ear Type AE1000 comprises the following main components:
•Type SC0001 IEC 60318 Acoustic couple
•Type RST 4000-S 1/2 inch Pressure Microphone and Preamplifier, Wide Frequency
•Type SC0006 Base plate
4. Artificial Ear Type AE1000
Artificial Ear Type AE1000 fulfils the requirements of IEC 60318 and is defined for simulating the acoustical load of the human ear under no leakage conditions. The acoustic coupler (Fig. 2) contains three volumes (V1 = 2.5cm3, V2 =1.8cm3 and V3 = 7.5cm3) and acousti¬cally connected in parallel by a narrow annular slit and four par¬allel holes.
The coupler fits 1/2 inch Microphone and 1/2 inch Microphone Preamplifier mounted in the hous¬ing. The coupler also mounts directly on the preamplifiers by the Adaptor Ring supplied.
5. Additional Equipment
The following additional equipment is required for making the necessary measurements:
• Power supply for the 1/2 inch Preamplifier,
e.g. the RStech power supply module type PM2000-s(Fig.3)
• Calibration source for the microphone (e.g. B&K 4231)
• Audio analysis system, which can generator test signal and analysis the recording signal from the DUT.(e.g. Trustsystem acoustic analysis system)
General acoustic parameters:
Frequency range: 100Hz to 4KHz
Standards: According to ITU-T P.57 Type 1 artificial ear.
Typical Sensitivity: -40dB re 1V/Pa at 1000Hz, calibrate by BK4231 calibrator.
